Youthville Overview

Youthville has been rebuilding children and families for 80 years. In 1927, Methodist churches established the agency to provide shelter and care for displaced children. Today, Youthville impacts the lives of children and families in times of trouble by offering services committed to keeping families together, helping rebuild families, and preparing children to join new, adoptive families. Youthville is committed to the mission of Giving Children Back Their Childhood.

Programs and Services

Foster Care

Many children cannot remain safely with their families. Youthville provides a safe home and loving family for children unable to live with their own families. Youthville supports, trains, and licenses more than 350 foster families throughout Kansas.

Case Management

Plans are individualized and created based on the needs of children and families with an emphasis to return children safely to their own homes.

Psychiatric Residential Treatment

Children ages 10 to 18 often need treatment to address their behavioral and psychiatric issues and to overcome barriers preventing them from living in a family setting. Youthville offers treatment in Newton or Dodge City where children attend school and participate in highly structured, intensive therapy. Dodge City features a working Farm & Ranch Program and Newton features an Expressive Arts Treatment Program.

Community Based Services

Programs include chemical dependency treatment, sexual issues treatment, a therapeutic animal program, and individual and family therapies. These treatment programs are offered in-home, in rural communities where options are limited, or at one of the psychiatric residential treatment facilities.

Individual Community Support

Working with the area mental health center, customized care is provided for severely emotionally disturbed children.

Life Skills

For children 17 or older, Youthville helps prepare and establish a healthy, successful adulthood by teaching necessary independent living skills.

Aftercare

This critical support service is provided for children with new families or for family stability when a child has returned home.
