Our clinical staff include Master's Level Social Workers, Psychologists, Marriage and Family Therapists and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, all licensed to provide behavioral health services in the state of Kansas.
Outpatient Therapy: A full range of individual, family, couple and group therapies are offered at YV-FCS, serving both children and adults. Our staff specialize in treating a variety of problems including depression, anxiety and behavioral concerns.
Within the outpatient program, the following specialized services are offered:
In-Home Family Therapy: Therapists are available to provide family therapy services in the home based upon eligible criteria.
Medication Management: YV-FCS medication clinic is staffed by two Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, who are supervised by a Board Certified Psychiatrist and serve clients ages 8 and up.
School-Based Therapy: YV-FCS has placed clinical staff at public schools in Wichita and surrounding communities. Master's level therapists are housed within the school building and are available to provide mental health assessment and intervention to students and their families. The majority of referrals to the program come from school staff, but referrals may also come from other sources such as caregivers and other agencies. Currently YV-FCS has clinical staff serving many schools.
Functional Family Therapy (FFT): FFT focuses on early intervention with youth who are in the juvenile justice system or who are at-risk for entering that system. The goal of FFT is to reduce the number of youth in the juvenile justice system, and also to prevent youth before entering the system. YV-FCS serves the families of youth ages 11-18 who have risk factors such as delinquency, family conflict, poor school performance, running away, substance abuse and violence. Treatment usually lasts 10-20 sessions over a three-month period. This is a highly effective evidenced-based family therapy model that is proven to reduce recidivism. The FFT program has been made possible by grant funding through Sedgwick County and the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority. Referrals for the program are accepted from Juvenile Probation, Juvenile Diversion, Juvenile Field Services and Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center Case Management.
Each year over 30,000 people in the United States take their own life. The devastated family and friends they leave behind are known as "survivors." It is estimated that there are at least 6-10 people intimately affected by every suicide.
Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention sponsors National Survivors of Suicide Day, which provides an opportunity for those who have lost someone to suicide to come together for support, healing, information and empowerment. National Survivors of Suicide Day helps survivors express and understand the powerful emotions they experience, and connect with others who have survived the tragedy of losing someone to suicide.
