The Therapeutic Animal Program (TAP) has measurable and positive impacts on youth with emotional problems or other physical limitations. Youthville's Therapeutic Animal Program is individualized based on the child's needs.
Located in Dodge City, Kansas, this program helps children develop life skills including the ability to form attachments, understand socially-acceptable boundaries, have trust in others and have others trust them, develop coping skills, set goals, take pride in responsibility and accomplishment, learn work ethics, and experience the satisfaction of a job well done.
Children benefit through positive and "real-life" therapy activities with a variety of animals including horses, cows, pigs, goats, llamas, and more. In recent years, TAP expanded to benefit other children from Dodge City and surrounding communities through our Community Based Services outreach program.
TAP is dependent on donations from the community in both dollars and in-kind gifts of animal feed, tack, etc.
