Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care©

This is another continuum in our Family Foster Care Program. This program serves youth between the ages of 12 and 18 who have serious behavioral issues. MTFC is designed to treat youth for a period of 6 to 9 months, at which time the youth is successfully reunified with their parents or another long term placement.

MTFC foster families must meet basic qualifications and complete the steps required for all foster parents. Additionally, foster parents receive advanced training and support to become part of the treatment team. Only one child at a time may be placed in a home through MTFC. The foster home provides close supervision and implements a structured, individualized program for the youth.

Some components of the program include:

• Strengths based- the focus is on identifying and building upon strengths of the child and reinforcement of positive behaviors.
• Point and level system- behaviors are translated into points earned or lost on a daily basis. Privileges are based on these points.
• Birth family involvement- a family therapist works weekly with the birth, relative, or adoptive family to help with parenting skills.

The services available include:

• Family therapy
• Weekly therapy with the youth
• Skill building sessions
• Support groups for the foster family
• 24-hour on-call support

Currently, foster homes involved with this program must be located within close proximity (30 minute drive) of Sedgwick County. Referrals for placement in this program are only accepted from Sedgwick County.
