Youthville's Residential Treatment Center is for children and youth ages 6-18 that need time away to address issues and remove barriers in their lives. This 24-hour, highly structured environment offers therapy, medical services, on-grounds education, psychiatric and chemical dependency services.

The agency's clinical framework, the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) developed by Dr. Bruce Perry, is incorporated into all aspects of campus life to help minimize future engagements in harmful or inappropriate behaviors. It is specifically designed to promote healing for victims of childhood maltreatment.

The campus offers specialized treatment programs, recreational activities and a cooperative school program that includes Unified School District #443 in Dodge City and Youthville. There are also opportunities to attend church and/or utilize on-site chaplaincy services.

TREATMENT PROGRAMS

The Therapeutic Animal Program (TAP) helps children by directly involving them in all phases of animal care so they may experience how to nurture an animal and receive back unconditional attention and love. It allows kids to establish personal goals, develop life skills to form attachments and understand socially-acceptable boundaries. Youth also learn to build faith in themselves and the ability to trust others. Youthville's TAP program includes equine therapy and canine therapy with the new Leash on Hope program.

The Youth Residential Center II (YRCII) program serves male Child In Need of Care (CINC) clients ages 6-18 with a well-established pattern of behavior that is antisocial, oppositional, defiant, aggressive, abusive, impulsive or high risk in nature.

The program is designed to improve decision-making, coping skills, social skills and to address any underlying problems that are effecting the youth, while teaching them how to handle behaviors in order to transition successfully back into their family and/or community. The program provides:

• Situational Training - personal hygiene, health and consumer education for independent living
• Communication Skills - articulating thoughts and feelings through speech and writing
• Situational Guidance - accepting responsibility, giving and receiving feedback, and learning tolerance
• Home Management - skills such as household chores, cooking complete meals, etc.

The Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) program is for children ages 6-18 years who need time away to address issues and remove barriers in their lives. This 24-hour, highly structured environment offers therapy, medical services, on-grounds education, psychiatric and chemical dependency services. The therapeutic environment proves a high degree of supervision, while addressing individual needs of the clients, primarily psychiatric and behavioral issues.

The Sexual Aggressive Treatment Program (SATP) is designed to enable participants to understand the destructive impact of their offenses on their victims, families and themselves. They learn responsible means of meeting personal needs and interacting with others. Residents are held accountable for their offenses and work through the cognitive and emotional processes they experienced before, during and after each offense to work on building healthy relationships and their own self perceptions.

The Sexual Issues Treatment Program (SITP) treats children with sexual boundary issues as well as children that have been sexually abused and have abused others. Most of these children have either seen or been exposed to sexual abuse/issues or have been exposed to inappropriate sexual boundaries.

The PRTF MR/DD program offers PRTF programming for males ages 9-16 with mental retardation, developmental disabilities, mental illness or severe emotional disturbance. The program utilizes the Positive Behavioral Support model as our treatment framework and provides:

• Person-centered treatment planning
• Non-aversive intervention techniques to help change behavior
• Teaching of socially acceptable new skills to substitute challenging behaviors
• Continuous assessment and identification of variables affecting behavior
